3. Podium Browser - what's new in September and what's coming

Over 200 render-ready components have been added in September including Yamagiwa light fixtures, Bega light fixtures, over 50 new 2D plants, more 3D rocks, more Podium materials, more interior furniture and several backhoes. Our goal is to make modeling and visualization even easier with SketchUp and SU Podium. In October we are adding cars, more 3D trees, more construction equipment, additional furniture including blinds and curtains. Still only $59.00 for over 5,500 high quality, render ready components. Read about Podium Browser here.

4. Exploded recessed lights video tutorial

There's a special type of recessed lights in Podium Browser called exploded. These are ready to be trimmed so that they fit perfectly in a ceiling or a wall face. As more of these types of recessed lights are being added, we thought a short video tutorial on how to use these would be helpful.

Click on the above image will link to a YouTube video. For greater resolution pick the HD option.

5. Podium Walker video of the month

Podium Walker 1.0.3 has been released. This version supports 64 bit Windows and Mac for both SketchUp 8 and 2013. This means Podium Walker will support as much system memory that is on your PC or Mac. This dramatically changes how large of a SketchUp model Podium Walker can render and animate. Podium Walker 1.0.3 now supports hidden LEM.
Read here and download the free trial. Currently Podium Walker is $99.00 (USD)

This short video is a walk thru animation of the often used Kumise Landscape SketchUp model of a Japanese town. It includes 30 Urbis Sapphire street lights with hidden LEM, 30 mountain-ash 3D trees, three 3D cars, all from Podium Browser.

6. SU Animate 4.2, an update

SU Animate 4 has been updated to SU Animate 4.2 for Windows users. The pull down menu display issue has been fixed. Mac users continue using the previous version.

7.Free plug-ins are now SU 2013 ready and in .rbz format.

Free SketchUp plug-ins are available from the Download page on www.suplugins.com.

EditInPlace is a SketchUp utility that allows you to edit groups and components in a separate SketchUp instance. It was free for SU Podium and SU Animate users and now is free for anyone. Read about EditInPlace here.

SUGrid creates a construction grid to snap to in any planar XYX plane. It was included with SU Animate and now is free for anyone. Watch a short video tutorial on SU Grid here.

Windows Only. Cadalog BeamTools is a comprehensive, parametric, table driven library of industry standard C, I, H, L Angles, T sections for SketchUp. It works only in Windows.

OmniGrid is the venerable plug-in for SU Podium V2 or for Podium Walker that allows you to create a grid of point lights above or below a planar surface (SketchUp face). By creating a grid of omni lights Omni Grid creates a relatively even source of light over a wide space. It is best for interior rendering. A superior even source of light is LEM in SU Podium V2.

IFC2SKP for SketchUp 8/ 2013 Beta is a Windows only plug-in for SketchUp 8 and 2013. This application works inside SketchUp Windows (not Mac) and has the ability to load IFC data from BIM (CAD) applications such as ArchiCAD, Revit and Microstation.

8. What's coming in What's New in October?

Later in October, in the next What's New we will be starting a series of tutorials based on this beautiful interior model created by Nat Ellis. We will start with the model itself, materials used, Podium Browser components used and then examine the lighting, presets, etc.

Click on the above image to see a higher resolution.
