Install the Windows version for SketchUp

    Should I download the .rbz file or the Zipped .rbz file? It depends on what Browser you are using.

    If you use Internet Explorer as your browser, it's best to download the Zipped .rbz file. Then unpack the zipped file and you will obtain the Podium Walker .rbz file.

    If you are using Fire Fox or Chrome, download the .rbz file but make sure you context click on the download link and choose Save Link as...

Download and Installing the .rbz Extension.

    1. Download the .rbz file and save it to your download folder.
    2. To download it's best to right click on the download link and use the option "Save Link As..."if that is available.
    3. After downloading, Open SketchUp and go to SketchUp Preferences. Pick Extensions. Then Install Extensions. SketchUp default file format for extensions is .rbz.
    4. Select PodiumWalker_1_2_x_SUXX_Win_x64.rbz.
    5. Install the Extension automatically. Once this is complete, Podium Walker will be available in the Plugins menu and as an icon tool bar.

Download and Installing the zipped .rbz file.

    Some browsers such as IE will not download .rbz files correctly. These browsers will convert the .rbz to .zip files which is not good. Therefore we have created a .zip file which contains the .rbz file.
    1. Download the zipped .rbz file and save it to your download folder.
    2. Then unzip the .zip file. You should see a PodiumWalker_1_2_2_SUXX_Win_x64.rbz file.
    3. Open SketchUp and go to SketchUp Preferences. Pick Extensions. Then Install Extensions. SketchUp default file format for extensions is .rbz. Select the PodiumWalker .rbz to install the Extension automatically.

Only install 64 bit version for Windows 64. Do not install the 64 bit version on a Windows 32 bit OS. Podium Walker no longer has a 32 bit Windows version.

How to install Podium Walker for all SketchUp Users or use your multi-byte user account name

SketchUp RBZ by defaults installs to this location - C:\Users\YourComputerName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\Plugins\.

There are two problems with this.

  1. If your Windows user account name uses double byte characters such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese and other languages, SketchUp will not load the .rbz file. This is a bug in SketchUp 2014 and 2015.
  2. Only one user account can access Podium Walker.

The solution is move the Podium Walker load file and folder to C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\SketchUp\Plugins. This is the procedure:

    1. First install the Podium Walker .rbz file from with SketchUp 2015 or 2014.
    2. Close SketchUp and go to this folder C:\Users\YourComputerName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\Plugins\
    3. Copy loadPodiumWalker.rbs and the folder PodiumWalker to this location C:\ProgramData\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\SketchUp\Plugins
    4. Go back to C:\Users\YourComputerName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015\Plugins\ and remove the loadPodiumWalker.rbs. If you do not remove the loadPodiumWalker.rbs file, SketchUp may try to load PodiumWalker twice.

Podium Walker 1.2.x Mac versions - only works on Maverick, Yosemite and El Capitan

If you are still using Lion or Mt. Lion, please install version 1.0.7 below

Podium Walker 1.2.3 is the most current version of Podium Walker. It fixes the sudden death crash that some models inexplicable create. It also is up to date to the Windows version, using the Embree intersect calculation engine. It also has Anti-Aliasing amount options.

These file installs as an .rbz file directly inside SketchUp. (Please read below). However, some browsers will not download .rbz files and instead convert the .rbz file to a .zip file. Instead of allowing your browser to do that, download the zip version and unzip it to obtain the .rbz file.

32/ 64 Bit Mac for SketchUp

Podium Walker 1.2.3 version 32/ 64bit for Mac Maverick or Yosemite - SketchUp 8 or 2013

This Mac version supports only Maverick or Yosemite. This is the 32/ 64 bit version based on Mac universal binary. This version works as a 64bit application on a Mac 64bit OS, and it will become a 32bit application on a Mac 32bit OS.

Podium Walker 1.0.7 is older but works with SketchUp 8 as well as SketchUp 2013. This installs as an .rbz file directly inside SketchUp. (Please read below). However, some browsers will not download .rbz files and instead convert the .rbz file to a .zip file. Instead of allowing your browser to do that, download the zip version and unzip it to obtain the .rbz file.

Podium Walker 1.0.7 SketchUp 8/ SketchUp 2013.

This Mac version supports Lion, Mountain Lion and Maverick. This is the 32/ 64 bit version based on Mac universal binary. This version works as a 64bit application on a Mac 64bit OS, and it will become a 32bit application on a Mac 32bit OS.

Zipped .rbz versions.

    Many Browsers such as Safari and Chrome will automatically pack the .rbz file and then create a .zip before downloading to your computer. This Browser action will not work. We have prepared a .zipped rbz file for Mac users.
    1. Download the .zipped rbz file to your download folder.
    2. To download it's best to right click on the download link and use the option "Save Link As..."if that is available.
    3. Then unzip the .zip file using the Mac's Archive utility. This which will unpack a single .rbz file.
    4. Open SketchUp and go to SketchUp's Preferences, Install Extensions to install the Podium Walker .rbz file.

Safari users please note - if you do not use "Save Link As...", Safari will automatically unpack the zipped file and you will see and .rbz file

Install Extensions and RBZ. After unpacking the zipped .rbz file, open SketchUp. Go to Install Extensions, located in the SketchUp Preferences/ Extensions dialog box. Use Install Extensions to install the Podium Walker.rbz file.
