Installation and Licensing

1. Mac and File Vault - Podium will not install

Did you have trouble installing SU Podium 1.7.X on your Mac. Does the installation seem to stop and let you get no further than picking your Destination Drive? Chances are File Vault has been enabled and this will stop the Podium installation.

To find out if File Vault is enabled on your Mac OSX system, Choose System Preferences and click Security. Click on the File Vault option. Is it enabled? If it is, SU Podium will not install on your computer.

If it is enabled, check with your company's IT person to see if you are allowed to disable it. Disabling it is the fastest solution but not necessarily what your company may allow.

If you can not disable it,the way around File Vault is this.

First make sure you have unzipped the SU_Podium_1.7.2_Full or Eval zip file that you download. Drag the SU_Podium_1.7.2_ .pkg file to your desktop.

Use a program called Pacifist to unpackage the SU_Podium_1.7.2_ pkg file without using the Podium Mac installer .
You need to download Pacifist from here - http://www.charlessoft.com/

a. Download the .dmg version of Pacifist.
b. Install it by following directions (drag the pacifist folder into your Application folder)
c. Run pacifist and click on Open Package- (there's a few things that the Pacifist will have you read. After reading, Open Package again.
d. A MacIntosh HD file manager like screen will be displayed. Find the Podium 1.7.2 pkg file. It should be in your Desktop. Open it.
e. Use the Install arrow to install the Contents of the podium full.pkg file.

This should successfully install Podium and still have File Vault enabled.

2. Full version users - Where is my serial number?
Before purchasing, please bookmark support@cadalog-inc.com. If you are purchasing from www.suplugins.com, the serial number and download link will be sent to you within a few minutes. If you have not received it within a few minutes, it is most likely your mail server has "spammed" the e-mail from Cadalog. Check your junk mail or spam mail folder or contact support@cadalog-inc.com to have us send the important e-mail to you again. You can find the serial number if you login to the Registered User area and go to My Account and then My Orders.

Make sure there are no mistakes in your e-mail or shipping info. From time to time we experience slight delays with our automated ordering system. Disruption is generally for short periods of time, so please be patient. If you haven't received your licence within one day, please send an e-mail to: support@cadalog-inc.com

3. How do I find my serial number if I have lost it?

a. If you purchased Podium from www.suplugins.com and have lost your serial number, an easy way retrieve it is to go to www.suplugins.com and login with the username and password you created when you purchased SU Podium. If you have lost your password, the only way to retrieve it is to click on Lost your password?Click here to reset it. We can not access your encrypted password. You will need to have access to your user name and e-mail address that you registered. If you can not find your user name, we can help. Send us as much info. about yourself as you can so we can look it up.

When you login, the registered user page will display. On the left hand side is a column. Look in the Cart section for My Account and click on My Account. This will take you to the My Account page. Again, in the left hand column, look under the Profile section for My Orders and click on My Orders. This will take you to My Orders page and click on View. If you do not see your serial number in this copy of your invoice, e-mail your original order number to support@cadalog-inc.com and ask us to find your serial number. We can look it up by your Order ID.

b. If you did not purchase SU Podium from www.suplugins.com but rather from www.ohyeahcad.com or from a reseller, please contact support@cadalog-inc.com and we will find it for you. Please give us as much detail as you can such as when you purchased Podium, the name used to purchase Podium or if you purchased from a reseller, who that reseller is. Once you receive your serial number, it's a good idea to register it at www.suplugins.com so that you can retrieve it at any time. To Register your software create an account on www.suplugins.com and once you do, you will see an option and link to register your Software.

4. Why do I get an UNC error message?

Are you receiving this message when you try to install SU Podium: "The drive or UNC share you selected does not exist or is not accessible. Please select another."

This message appears because Podium's installer needs a C: drive. If you do not have a C:drive, there is a work around.

One alternative is to create a fake or virtual C: drive using software. One such software is Virtual Partition Pro that will create a fake or Virtual C: drive. Here is a link to Virtual Partition Pro 1.2. Click Here

Once you have successfully created a fake C: drive and nstall Podium on your virtual C: drive, you need to copy the Podium files and folders to the drive that you have installed SketchUp on. The files you want to copy are:
Podium_load.rb. This file should be copied to the /Google Sketchup 6/ Plugins/ folder.
The entire Podium folder should also be copied to /Google Sketchup 6/ Plugins/ folder.

If you are unable to create a fake or virtual C: drive, contact support@cadalog-inc.com and we will send you all the necessary files you will need and instructions to copy them to the correct folders.

5. Can I use the same Podium license on my desktop and laptop?
Yes, but not at the same time!

6. What is the difference between the full, evaluation and student versions
The full and student versions are identical. The difference between these and the evaluation version is just output resolution, which is limited to 500x500. There is no other difference at all. Registered users also have access to additional resources on the website, including beta versions. Students must provide proof of their status to qualify for the discount. There are also discounts available for educational institutions.

7. Network Licensing
Currently Podium doesn't have any form of network or floating licenses. You do need to purchase a license for each computer you think Podium will be used on. However, we have increased the volume discount for Podium to make it easily affordable for multiple workstation offices. This does not alter the fact that you can install Podium at home or on a laptop as long as both machines are not used at the same time.

8. Windows 64-bit XP, Vista and Windows 7

Windows 64 bit OS often has two Program Files directories. One is called Program Files and one is called Program Files (x86). The installer should automatically recognize you are running a 64 bit system. However, if you are experiencing difficulties installing: Find out which Program Files folder SketchUp.exe file is installed on. You can do this by right clicking your SketchUp icon on your Windows desktop and looking at Properties. If SketchUp is installed on Program Files (x86), you will need to change the default location for Podium to be installed to the Google SketchUp folder in Program Files (x86).
