Quick Review on how to turn JPG images to SketchUp material library files |
Importing 2D graphics as Textures (Source: SketchUp Help file) 1. Select the File > Import menu item from the File menu. The Import dialog box is displayed. 2. Select the type of file to import from the Files of Type drop-down list. In this case, it is one of the .jpg files that you downloaded from the User page. 3. Click the Use As Texture check box (this will require you to paint the image on a surface so you need to have a surface in the drawing.) 4. Click OK to import the file. The .jpg file will appear as an image in the drawing area. Your cursor, which will be the paint bucket, will be anchored to one of the image's corners. 5. Click on a surface to anchor the point of the image held by the cursor. 6. Drag your mouse away from the anchor point to increase the size of the image on the face. 7. Click again to paint your image on the face. Now this image is a material in the current SketchUp model. Converting the new material to a SketchUp material library 1. Open the SketchUp Material Browser and click on the Home icon to show material that is In the Model. Your new material should be displayed.
2. Click on the Arrow icon in the Material Browser to create a new material folder.
3. Create a new material folder. You can locate it anywhere but it might be easiest to locate it with the other standard material folders in the Program FilesGoogleGoogle SketchUp 6Material directory. 4. Go back to the Material Browser and right mouse click on the new material. You should see a "Save as" option.
5. Save the material as an .skm file in your new material folder. Now you can use this material over and over again.
